"Log Jam" by Jim Daley - 2003 Limited Edition Print

LOG JAM By Jim Daley (2003 Print)

The "Log Jam" limited edition, signed, and autographed print is available at the Museum's Gift Shop.

When the waterways formed the main transportation system for logs and pulpwood, the "log jam" was a daunting challenge for the "drivers".  With pike-poles and peaveys they "worked out" the problem despite chilly waters and risk to life and limb, sending the winter harvest of the forest on its way to the mill booms.

A native of New Brunswick, Jim was born in Saint John, NB. Although mostly a self taught artist, he received some formal training in his earlier school years at Vocational School under the watchful eye of such known artists as Vi Gillett, Julie Crawford, and Ted Campbell, and in later years through a correspondence course.

The business world had kept him from becoming active in the field of painting until 1974 when he began sketching and painting as a hobby. He has been quite successful in portraits in both oils and pastels. His love for the rural and coastal scenery of his native New Brunswick and the Maritimes is much evident in his landscape and seascape paintings.

He has had several successful solo and group exhibitions and has received several commissions for various occasions. His paintings hang in private collections across Canada, United States and Europe.
